Why is RadioApp not working on my Google speaker?
*LATEST UPDATE as of 10:39am on December 3 (AEDT)
Re: Nova & Smooth streams
We can confirm that Nova & Smooth streams are now back online. We apologise for the inconvenience while this issue was present. Google are investigating the root cause of this issue and will advise in due course to avoid this happening in the future.
Re: Some streams cut out 15-20 minutes into playback (ACE & SCA streams)
We are yet to have an update on this matter as Google are continuing to investigate.
Re: Some streams fail to play at all (on Nest Mini’s, Hub & Hub Max speakers)
In addition to RSN927, 3YB & TRFM we can confirm that 3SH & 1242 Gold also fail to play. We have received a possible solution from Google and will explore what we can do with the networks to resolve this ASAP.
In the meantime, you can continue to use the Cast option from the RadioApp mobile app to stream via Google Speakers while the above issue is being worked on.
UPDATE as of 12:54pm on November 28 (AEDT)
We are aware that all stations across the Nova & Smooth radio network are experiencing issues with playback on Google speakers.
We have raised this new issue with Google as a matter of urgency and will ensure we seek a resolution ASAP.
As an immediate workaround, you can continue to listen on Google speakers by Casting from the RadioApp mobile app to your speaker. Download the app here.
UPDATE as of 9:26am on November 28 (AEDT)
We are aware that although the widespread outage has been resolved, there are still issues with streaming reliably for particular stations across the ACE Radio Network and Triple M Networks.
A summary of current issues:
We are getting reports that stations from across the ACE Radio Network and SCA (Triple M & Hit Network) are affected. This includes stations such as 4BH & 3MP, including a host of Triple M stations.
Google are still investigating the cause of this issue.
UPDATE as of 8:27pm on November 21 (AEDT)
The good news: Some stations have started coming back online and are resuming normal streaming. However, we’re seeing intermittent issues across the platform, which means your favourite station might work one moment and then drop out the next.
Google’s engineering team is still actively working on a complete fix to resolve these issues permanently. We’re in close contact with them and will continue to monitor the situation closely.
UPDATE as of 2:00pm on November 18 (AEDT)
We note that streaming/playback for all stations on Google speakers is currently down.
We have alerted Google about this and will provide an update in due course.
*UPDATE as of 11:11am on November 18 (AEDT)
Google have identified two issues that are currently causing outages of streaming on Google speakers:
- Some streams cut out 15-20 minutes into playback.
- Some streams fail to play at all (primarily on Nest Mini’s).
As it stands, Google are rolling out a patched firmware update for issue #1 which is currently at 25% of devices. The full rollout to 100% of devices is expected to rollout by Thursday November 20th at night PST (afternoon Friday November 21st AEST).
The patched firmware version will be: 28.20250723.103.2100300
A timeline is unclear on when we can expect a fix for issue #2 however Google are working on this as a priority and we will provide an update when we have one.
*UPDATE as of 10:18am on November 14 (AEDT)
We are aware that there are still issues with streaming some radio stations on Google.
Google have indicated that they will be rolling out a patched firmware update to 5% of devices in the next couple of days with 100% rollout as late as November 25th.
Thank you for your patience on this issue.
*UPDATE as of 10:57am on November 10 (AEDT)
We’re aware that streaming for a number of stations are still impacted.
Google engineers are currently assessing the issue and hope to have a further update shortly. In the meantime, you can listen, uninterrupted via the RadioApp mobile app on iOS, Android & the Samsung Galaxy store.
*UPDATE as of 10am on November 4 (AEDT)
We’ve received reports that some streams across the Hit Network and Triple M network are abruptly stopping playback.
We are working with SCA and Google to address this as a priority.
*UPDATE as of 2:15pm on November 3 (AEDT)
We can confirm that the issue has now been resolved for the affected radio stations below.
- 2GB Sydney, 3AW Melbourne, 4BC Brisbane & 6PR Perth
- All streams from the Hit & Triple M network
We are however experiencing an outage with ACE radio streams on Google Hub speakers only. Google Nest Mini speakers are unaffected. We hope to resolve this shortly.
What’s the problem?
Due to a software/firmware update on Google’s side, we’re experiencing issues with playback of some radio streams via RadioApp on Google speakers such as Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max. At this stage, Google Nest Mini speakers appear to be unaffected by this update.
The affected Google firmware version is: 28.20250723.103.2100
What radio stations are affected?
The following stations are currently affected:
- 2GB Sydney, 3AW Melbourne, 4BC Brisbane & 6PR Perth
- All streams from the Hit & Triple M network
When will this issue be fixed?
The latest timeline for a permanent fix and a new firmware version from Google is approximately mid-November.
However, we understand that this isn’t ideal, so we are working with the relevant radio networks affected to see if we can apply a temporary fix to the streams to get it to work sooner than that.
What can I do in the meantime?
While are we are experiencing a temporary outage on Google devices for some stations, you can continue to stream uninterrupted on the RadioApp mobile app here.
We will also continue to keep this page updated with any latest changes or updates as we work through this issue.
